Storytime with McClintock’s

We have so many wonderful local vendors, we thought it would be nice to share their stories so you can get to know them a bit better. Many live right here in our neck of the woods!

Our first story is about a little farm that you've likely passed on Dove Creek Road at one point or another. Maybe you've seen it across the street while headed down for a wee dip in the warm summer river. Perhaps you've even been there to pick some of their plump, delicious berries!

Of course, we're referring to McClintock's Farm, owned and run by Gerry, Val, and Sandra McClintock, famous for their water buffalo yogurt. 🐃

McClintock’s Farm was established in 1988 when Gerry & Val purchased 23 acres in Dove Creek. What started as a few cows and blueberry plants has grown into many more acres, over 120 water buffalo, and enough blueberry and raspberry plants to feed a lot of CV bellies. They are the fourth and fifth generations to farm parts of this land.

They strongly believe that their animals deserve to be cared for with kindness and respect, and strive to provide a healthy, natural, stress free environment for them. They're free to graze in the fields during the summer and are placed in small social groupings in the winter, where they can sleep huddled together

What makes buffalo yogurt different?

Buffalo milk is very different from cow’s milk as it is naturally homogenized, higher in calcium and protein and lower in cholesterol. The fat molecules are much smaller making it easier to digest. The protein is different as well, making it suitable for many people who have intolerances to traditional cow’s milk yogurt. The yogurt is naturally thick without any thickeners, cream or skim milk powder added and has a mild, smooth, great taste.

Water buffalo yogurt features plenty of benefits.

•Buffalo milk is naturally homogenized

•It’s high in calcium and protein

•Low in cholesterol

•Easy to digest

•100% grass-fed water buffalo

We've got their buffalo yogurt ready for the taking, but be sure to pop by their beautiful farm this summer for some berry picking in the sunshine!
